Corrigendum: A fast and unbiased procedure to randomize ecological binary matrices with fixed row and column totals

چکیده
Previous work by Verhelst describing an equivalent mathematical argument for analysing binary matrices, but with different implementation and reasoning, was inadvertently omitted from the reference list of this Article and should have been cited in instances where multiple swap methods were mentioned. For example, in the Introduction section, Verhelst should have been cited as follows: ‘Thus, despite the higher statistical robustness of some of the above-mentioned procedures, the sequential swap still remains the most commonly used algorithm to generate null matrices with fixed row and column totals17. However, a mathematical formulation of multiple swaps has been previously proposed (Verhelst).’

Linear preservers of g-row and g-column majorization on M_{n,m}
Let A and B be n × m matrices. The matrix B is said to be g-row majorized (respectively g-column majorized) by A, if every row (respectively column) of B, is g-majorized by the corresponding row (respectively column) of A. In this paper all kinds of g-majorization are studied on Mn,m, and the possible structure of their linear preservers will be found. Also all linear operators T : Mn,m ---> Mn...
متن کاملDisentangling community patterns of nestedness and species co-occurrence
Two opposing patterns of meta-community organization are nestedness and negative species co-occurrence. Both patterns can be quantified with metrics that are applied to presence-absence matrices and tested with null model analysis. Previous meta-analyses have given conflicting results, with the same set of matrices apparently showing high nestedness (Wright et al. 1998) and negative species co-...
متن کاملOn nest modules of matrices over division rings
Let $ m , n in mathbb{N}$, $D$ be a division ring, and $M_{m times n}(D)$ denote the bimodule of all $m times n$ matrices with entries from $D$. First, we characterize one-sided submodules of $M_{m times n}(D)$ in terms of left row reduced echelon or right column reduced echelon matrices with entries from $D$. Next, we introduce the notion of a nest module of matrices with entries from $D$. We ...
متن کاملNull model analysis of species nestedness patterns.
Nestedness is a common biogeographic pattern in which small communities form proper subsets of large communities. However, the detection of nestedness in binary presence-absence matrices will be affected by both the metric used to quantify nestedness and the reference null distribution. In this study, we assessed the statistical performance of eight nestedness metrics and six null model algorit...
متن کاملExact Sampling and Counting for Fixed - Margin Matrices
The uniform distribution on matrices with specified row and column sums is often a natural choice of null model when testing for structure in two-way tables (binary or nonnegative integer). Due to the difficulty of sampling from this distribution, many approximate methods have been developed. We will show that by exploiting certain symmetries, exact sampling and counting is in fact possible in ...
